Five twisted faery stars. And you better believe those stars come complete with tails, fur, pointy ears, horns and plenty of intrigue and savagery. Not since the Game of Thrones books have I read about so much treachery and bloodshed. These are faeries of a bloodthirsty nature beyond anything I've ever imagined.
My thoughts on faeries were always that they were mischievous and could be vindictive but also had the ability to bestow good fortune and other magical gifts IF so inclined. What Ms Black has done is take that notion and ratchet it up a hundred fold. Maybe their immortality makes creating more and more drama necessary to escape the boredom of endless days of infinity life?? It was interesting to learn they could be killed tho so it's only immortality so long as no one is crossed or has opposing interests.
Our protagonist Jude was constantly lamenting her vulnerability at being human but she demonstrated time and time again that she has "balls of steel" and I didn't see her humanness slowing her down much. She definitely needs to stay in the world of the Fey and leave the mortal world behind. It suits her just fine.
Not a book that takes time to get immersed in ~ basically open it and ensorcellment is immediate. I loved it. I'm here for it. I'm not stopping until I've read the last page of the last book. It's been awhile since I've dabbled in the YA genre ~ big mistake. I would have been sorry to have missed this one!
