If you have a phenomenal memory, you might just recall that (1) 'Miss Kim' Korean Lilac Standard was added to the garden in March of 2012. If you aren't in possession of that kind of recall, please allow me the privilege of refreshing it.
That was SIX years ago, during a time when the back garden was undergoing a renovation of sorts.
My how things have changed.
What started out as a small, fairly inconsequential, focal point is now a COMMANDING presence.
Not to mention how divinely it perfumes the garden.
'Miss Kim' clearly has performed outstandingly!
Iris 'Expose'
It's really interesting to note the changes in garden structure from then to now.
The yew hedging has matured right along with the Lilac standard.
It's times like this I appreciate the blog for the pictorial evidence it provides. The garden maturing before our eyes ~ and the personal satisfaction of seeing my once fledgling vision realized.
Oh wow, yes that sweet shrub has found the perfect home. Yours is the second blog I've visited today that focuses on Syringa meyeri--in that shape and in a similar placement. Love it! We have two of them, but in the shrub form and I love them, as well! The scent is incredible, isn't it? When the S. meyeris bloom in my garden, the pollinators go nuts, and that's when I usually see the first tiger swallowtail butterflies of the season. I saw one yesterday and today nectaring on the Lilacs, along with the first monarch of the season!
