alarm clock. Never needs winding, never needs a new battery, never needs to be reset when the power goes out.
Almost the same time each morning ~ rain, snow or shine ~ they fly in, wanting their peanuts (I know ~ who started that habit??!!)
Now they're addicted and refuse to let me forget. They don't take days off either!
Screech, screech, screech until "someone" gets up and takes them out their treat.
I guess there could be worse ways to wake up, right??!!!
What are the chances of teaching them to let me sleep in??!! Afterall, they are very smart!
They can get very noisy. Such pretty birds though. You captured them in gorgeous pictures Kathleen.

I know some people complain about them, but I think they're pretty in their own way. And now that you've trained them (or vice-versa), you can always count on willing models for your photography. :) Beautiful captures!

oh what fabulous photos - especially the first one... feel like I could reach out and touch his soft feathers... they are pretty bold and noisy though... I remember them dive bombing my cat when I was little and trying to fight them off.

Absolutely wonderful details you've captured of its feathers. And the selective focus and framing are wonderful. These are terrific photos Kathleen.

Ha ha, yes, he looks very serene in his certainty that he will get peanuts. :) On time no less.

Beautiful!!! Send them our way and we'll give them peanuts! With my new hours I'm up by 4AM anyway.

I love the blue jays! We used to have lots of them, before West Nile ripped through a few years ago. But they are starting to come back, here in SE lower Michigan. Your photos are gorgeous!

Well, at least he is a very *pretty* alarm clock, is that any consolation?

They are beautiful, noisy creatures, but, I appreciate them for their job as town criers! gail

Oh, to get beautiful photos like that, I wouldn't mind waking up early!

Definitely worse ways but the thought of blue jays screeching for their morning treat makes me smile. Gorgeous photos as always.
