I'm not quite sure what I was thinking yesterday ~ climbing on a ladder in a ferocious wind storm to cut some lilacs to bring indoors??? Who knows. Sounds like a recipe for disaster thinking back on it. I'm glad it didn't end up that way.
I'm short on time this morning but before I get going, I thought I'd share with you what I did with the blooms I was so desperate to bring inside:
They became the centerpiece of my spring buffet, mixed in with a few other gardening/antique "doodads" I have acquired. Notice the Smith & Hawken birdbath bought earlier this spring ~ it has never made it outdoors and most likely never will ~ way too pretty!
I could have (should have) waited one more day ~ it has thankfully calmed down quite a bit ~ at least for this morning. I hope to find time to make the rounds and see what's new in bloom, especially if the wind stays down so I can actually photograph flowers without them blowing every which way. You can be sure I'll be back to share my findings with you!
It was worth risking your life for:)
I always dash out before a storm (or sometimes during in a storm) to cut flowers before the wind, rain and hail can destroy them.
Lilacs never last long. You'll probably be going out tomorrow for more.

I look forward to it! Our lilacs are a couple weeks behind yours, but we should soon have those heavenly scented blooms as well. They look lovely on your buffet.

I love how you have the lilacs arranged with all of your other garden decor. It looks like you must have lots of Lilacs blooming.
I was just getting a gift certificate to a garden store for a Mother's Day for my Mom and I picked up a licorice plant after seeing it on your previous post :) Now I need to decide where to plant it.

I'm glad something didn't happen to you while you were cutting your bouquet. What were you thinking woman? :) Pretty display!

How lucky you are to have lilacs to bring indoors! Can't wait till mine get big enough to do so. I always wonder what surprises I'll find once I get back from vacation.

oohh... I can almost smell them from here... lilacs are my favorites (along with Hydrangeas and Peonies) and definitely my favorite fragrance.

Your spring buffet looks better than anything in a magazine. Exquisite.
