It's been ten whole days since I did my last Amaryllis post, so I'm sure you all must be feeling the void, right?! Just what I thought. Never fear, I'm here with a fix! Amaryllis 'Fairy Tale' will totally drive away the winter blues (if you've got them). It is classified as a "miniature" which mean the flowers are supposed to be smaller but not noticeably so in my estimation. What makes 'Fairy Tale' quite possibly the "fairest of them all" is not necessarily her coloring but rather the way she chose to bloom. This little bulb sent up three bloom stalks all at once and all three are opening right now! It's nothing short of sensational! She doesn't need me to convince you tho ~ she can do that all by herself:
You're bowled over, right?! Uh huh. You're not the first. That big full "head" of blooms has stopped a lot of passerby traffic to my house. I think I may have even convinced some "non-plant" people to try an amaryllis bulb with her display. They see her from afar and have to step inside and take a closer look:
See what I mean? The bloom stalks are so heavy, I've had to stake her more sturdily than any other amaryllis that's bloomed so far this year. It's a "problem" I'm more than happy to have. :-)
Alright, alright, alright. I'll quit yammering and get to the macro ~ I know that's what you're dying to see.
Aaaaahhhh, that's what I'm talking about. Resplendent. It was hard to single out one bloom from the mass of impressive choices but I don't think they're worried about getting "equal time" as long as they get their due appreciation. I think we can do that, don't you?
Kathleen what a beauty!
I am really impressed with the three stems. What a gorgeous bouquet that makes. I see you mentioned miniature.. how tall is it and are the blooms smaller? Curious minds and newbies want to know. LOL!

Beautiful Kathleen. Glad ya got that 'fix' put on for us! ;-) She's stunning, I can certainly see why people stop to get a better look. Must make ya feel pretty proud!!!
Hey mine is finally growing. It must be all of 3 inches now. LOL

Great Kathleen! Anything with a name like that has my vote, but the flowering habit is fabulous. Makes the others seem like tightwads. :-)

Looks like a Fairy Tale came true when you planted this one. Usually the third stalk is far behind the others. What a show!
It's back to red next Christmas, for sure.

You are so funny. Yes, ok, I was going through Amaryllis withdrawal. :-)
Lovely, really lovely.

Fairytale is indeed a beauty! Don't worry, before long it will be me posting photos of my amaryllis in bloom. I already started with pictures of it's buds yesterday! LOL

Oh Wow! They are beautiful. If I lived nearby, I would've been one of those people sneaking a closer look ;-)
