For some reason, it surprised me. That when I went looking for it, there it was. Does that happen to anyone else? It had to be right there for at least a little while but I'd missed it. Suddenly spring is everywhere. On the few Viburnum Lentago (Nannyberry) blossoms that weren't frosted:
in the front flower bed where the first tulip of the season has opened. The subtle salmon coloring in striking opposition to the bright yellow daffodils that surround it:
It only took a moment of the sun disappearing behind the clouds for it to slightly but oh so prettily, fold its petals up:
I don't remember its name but I do remember planting it last fall. It's one of only a handful of tulips I added to the garden. I added many more alliums, like this bloom head I discovered almost ready to open:
I haven't had alliums in this garden (I'm not sure why??) so I welcome them back. You may remember there was a big bulb mix up at the time of purchase, so I will have to compare tags to blooms to tell which is which. Finally, another variety of daffodils has opened. I keep thinking we've seen them all then the garden will offer up another one that I forgot I planted.
If I'd been thinking straight, I should have planted it next to the salmon tulip ~ wouldn't that have been a great combination?? I guess it's never too late, right? I'm so glad (a month after it officially arrived) that spring is making its way into my garden.
Spring sometimes has a way of sneaking up on us. We get a warm day and all the blooms seem to pop open before our eyes.

kathleen, There IS nothing like spring! It's a joy every day to be in a garden...Something new to see every hour! Your daffs are beautiful! I love the one with the gentle coloring...when you find it's label I want her name! I moved mine after the bloom faded...photos and a few discreet tags helped me keep track of the varieties! But they will surely be surprises in the beds I moved them to next year! gail

Spring has burst upon us here, also.
Those daffodils with the salmon tulip is just lovely!

It sure does look like spring! The viburnum flowers are very pretty. Do they smell good?
I need to try alliums. I think they are so interesting and love what they add. The photo of the bud is great!

Kathleen, How wonderful to finally see blooms! Spring has been in our area for so long that I have been feeling a bit guilty about all the gardeners in the part of the world that are still waiting!

Never seen a white daffadil like that; it's petals look almost like onion skin paper. What color will that allium be? I've only seen the purple ones bloom, but never planted any myself, it is interesting to know what it looks like before it blooms. Thanks for sharing.
