Check out the interesting landscape shot I snapped yesterday while walking my dog:
The weather couldn't make up it's mind. Cloudy one minute, sunny the next but definitely snowing over the Rocky Mountains. See that line of clouds concealing their jagged peaks? What was interesting is how those contrasts were reflected in the lake. Around the edges, the water is open, but the middle is covered in ice yet. The blue sky & cloud bank were reflected back in that open water, stopping where the ice begins and making for a very interesting picture. Don't you think??
I do indeed! It almost tricks the eye into thinking the water "folds down" at that line where the ice stops. Beautiful shot and it looks like it was a lovely day.

It is certainly stunning Kathleen! All those lovely colours of 'bluish grey'
I saw the sun today....it's a miracle :-)

That is really pretty. What a nice view to have while walking your dog. You almost have to study the picture to see what ends where.

Yes, the sky is echoed perfectly in the lake.

HI GIRL, I love this picture, it is absolutely STUNNING! Check out my blog, I gave you an award, but it isn't the regular kind, so I think you will want to play along this time! (OH, and I mentioned the sketchbook in another post, too!) Hugs, Nicole

It is a wonderful photo Kathleen..icy blue and cold. I wonder how thick the ice is in the middle? Your world is so different from our zone 7ish brown one!

That's it exactly Nancy. It does look like it folds down. Interesting effect the ice had, huh?

Hooray for seeing the sun Tyra! That's always reason for celebration. :-)

You do have to study it Catherine! It's almost a trick of the eye the way the clouds & sky are repeated on the open water. My dog loves walking around the lake and I have to admit, it's very enjoyable.

That happens often Tina, but I just thought it was made extra interesting by the ice...

Hi Nicole. Thank you so much for all your nice comments, compliments, awards, etc. I've popped over and left you a couple comments too. You're the sweetest!

I don't have any idea how thick it is now Gail. In the winter people snowshoe across it, ice fish on it, etc., but this time of year is too dangerous for any of those activities. I'm always happy when it's completely melted ~ I'm sure that doesn't surprise you!

Thank you Kim. It does make you look a bit to see what's what!

Thank you Racquel. It is always nice to walk along and look out at the lake. It looks different every single day for some reason?

Thank you Anna. I think I've taken a zillion photos from this spot. It's a great place for sunset pics. :-)
