It's Saturday! The weekend stretches before us! The sun is shining! So obviously that leads to "let's talk shoes!" ?! hee hee. Now there's a happy subject (my heart is doing flip flops just thinking about it)! I'm wondering what other gardeners wear in the garden?? Something sturdy? Something laced? Myself, I'm a "slip on" kinda girl. I'm barefoot most of the time indoors so I want something I can just slide my feet into and shoot out the door. (unless I'm doing excavation or other major tasks). Last summer, I discovered crocs. Okay, I know they've been around for a while. But let's just say, I had some serious disdain for them at first. I had heard everyone rant and rave, blah, blah, blah, about how comfortable they were but just look at them! Big boats of rubberized plastic (or whatever that stuff is they're made of) Then I tried a pair on. And converted on the spot. I love that they can play in the dirt, get wet, etc., but also clean up well. What more can you ask of footwear?!! That's my take, now what's your foot wearing???
I love those bright red shoes :) I need some easy slip ons that I can just hose off. Right now I use my old runners and the dirt goes right into the shoes. Yuck!
I responded to your questions about my camera in the comments. Hope it's helpful to you!

Old running shoes, usually -- or boots, when appropriate. I love the cheery red!

Today? Crocs with wooly socks for the cooler temperatures. When it's muddy, I wear ladybut clogs.

The shoe color is perfect with your blog heading. I love Crocs to and just like you am always barefoot in the house. Shoes on, shoes off. I definitely need slip-ons of some kind.

Thanks for all the comments. It looks like I'm not the only "slip on" girl!

Hi Kathleen: Thanks for visiting at Hoe&Shovel and for your kind compliment.
Well I just can't buy into the Croc thing for everyday wear. I've tried. My family loves them ...but me? it's just not me and I just have to go with it.
As far as gardening... I do go with the slip ons. I keep a pair at the garage door (w/ all my gardening supplies) and one pair at the back door. They are a mule style from Smith & Hawkin. Very comfortable- yet waterproof. Yesterday they saved my toe from the spinning edger blade which I stupidly swiped while moving something out of my way.
Have to say- love the "red" of YOUR Crocs. My favorite color.

Hi Meems! That's okay on not buying into the crocs. It still cracks me up that I wear them when I didn't like them for so long! Sounds like you have found some great slip on alternatives. (I'm glad they saved your toe by the way) And red is my fave too! :-)
