lately ~ maybe I should buy a lotto ticket? I've never done that before but it could be time to start? I have just cause to feel this way having won a Simply Handmade book from Hilary Kanwischer's blog just two weeks ago and now I've had the good fortune to win this beautiful book compliments of Tatyana's giveaway (My Secret Garden blog):
I spent last evening looking thru the projects and there are so many I could do in my own small garden. Things like the one pictured below:
Isn't that cool? Adding the finials instantly "glams" up the wooden planter, doesn't it? I am going out today to find some and add them to my own little gardening box. I love stuff like this. So easy but what a difference little details make. Thanks so much (again) Tatyana ~ I'm going to really enjoy this book.
Along the lines of luck, I stumbled across these beautiful hummingbird feeders yesterday. I've admired them for a long time but never purchased one because I wasn't sure if the hummingbirds would actually use them & they were sort of pricey. At 70% off, I figured I wasn't out much for trying!
Even if the hummingbirds choose not to use them, I think they are pretty as garden art ~ don't you?? Does anyone have/use one? If so what has your experience been with them? I'd love to hear.
All this good luck is making me like February! Maybe it will change my mind/feelings about winter?!!! Probably not. Unless two tickets to a tropical island should happen to show up ~ then we can talk!
Lucky you to win that book. I think I need to pick up a copy.
I haven't tried those hummingbird feeders, but they really are pretty. I love when something useful doubles as garden art.

Lucky you! That book looks like it would be a good one. I like your feeders...very pretty. Also, that's a great idea for the planter. All good things...doesn't Martha say that...?

Time to buy a lottery ticket and fast! I like those finials too and think they'll fit right in with your cart nicely.

I do love the finials and the hummingbird feeders. Hopefully, the hummingbirds find them as pretty as I do :^)

You are having a lucky month aren't you? That's great that there are lots of projects you can use in the book. Love the hummingbird feeder but haven't used one myself.

Sorry Kathleen, I'm fresh out of "Two Tickets to Paradise." Will my comment be enough to suffice? LOL
You go girl! You scored big time. Finals are very cool. What I like is that they can be painted to look formal or left to age to acquire the vintage look. I also like the caps that attach to the tops of 4x4 posts. Mine are round rather than finial but really add a bit of glam to an otherwise mundane post and rail fence.
I don't have hummingbird feeders like yours but if I did I'd definitely use them for garden art.
Isn't Tatyana a dear? Congrats on the score. Inspiration comes in handy right about now, doesn't it?

Well, good for you Kathleen! Happy February. I can just see you headed out for finials. Have a wonderful time this Spring, after you've gathered all the great ideas as future projects! :-)

You are lucky!! Tatyana's giveaway looks like an excellent book. The hummingbird feeder would be enough as a decorative feature, I agree.

I do like the idea of dressing up a raised bed or planting box. Simple but nice.
I was looking at plans for tuteurs on line yesterday. Found some I could make but none as nice as the ones on the book cover.
Congratulations on you wins.
